Poem- “Who do you want to be?” by Monica Santistevan (@Monie06)
I woke up this morning with the sound of birds songs in the air,
The sounds of Mother Nature’s tunes of happiness & no cares.
I yawned & placed my two feet upon the cold hard floor,
Then walking to the bathroom as I Had shut the door.
I looked in the mirror to this girl starring back at me,
Wondering is this the person I really want to be??
From then on through the weeks I think of how life should be,
How no dream is impossible if you just believe?
I had some moments when I ran into road blocks,
Making things harder to hear opportunity knocks.
So I thought of what inspired me to be the best I can be,
Then I see his face, As if a lightning bolt had hit me.
His name is Carlos Roberto Pena Jr the guy that loves his helmet,
That guy I can’t wait to watch new Big Time Rush episodes on Nick.
But he wasn’t always there for this man fallowed a dream,
A dream he had deep inside his heart no matter how hard things seemed.
Throughout his career you can see the pain & dedication,
Hearing the emotion in his voice in the interview on making menudo,
you could hear the determination.
When I seen that I knew I wanted to be like Carlos from that day,
Someone that doesn’t give up on their dream no matter what others say.
Someone that fights until that last man is standing,
That person that no one believed in even if others were laughing.
So I will run to the finish line until I’ve won this race,
I’ll hold my dream & my heart & soon leave this place.
He inspired me to be that girl I see in that refection every day,
The girl who has faith in her heart in every single way.
To never give up & to always fallow that dream,
No matter how far or how hard it may seem.
So, Who do you want to be today??
The sounds of Mother Nature’s tunes of happiness & no cares.
I yawned & placed my two feet upon the cold hard floor,
Then walking to the bathroom as I Had shut the door.

So, Who do you want to be today??
Jude F's Story
Carlos and I are scuba diving in the Caribbean. I start looking for Carlos in the water, but I cannot find him. Oh well, he'll be fine. I think to myself. I'm sure he will. Suddenly, I see a bunch of small, colorful fish. I say, "Omigosh, they're so beautiful!" I'm amazed as they pass by. I follow them. But, soon, they go into a small tunnel that I can't go through.
I swim back near the spot where I first saw them. I'm a little worried because I still haven't found Carlos. I start to get a bit panicked and decide to swim up to the surface in search of him. I wait a few minutes in the water. Damn, where could he be?
I swim to the shore and walk around the beach. I find a small restroom. I change into a swimsuit and some shorts.
I go back out and sit on the sand. Then, a moment later, I see him in the distance. "You had me frickin' terrified!"
I watch him as he gets out of the water and takes off his flippers and mask. He just smiles and says, "You do know I'm a certified scuba dive rescuer, right?" Any other time, his smile would fix anything. But not this time. Then, he adds, "I can see you tried SO hard to find me!"
I look at him incredulously. I get angry and tears start streaming down my face for some reason and I don't reply.
A long while later, with me now quietly sobbing, he says, "Did you see those fish?"
I take a deep breath in and reply slowly and softly, "Yeah, they were so pretty!" I wipe my face.
He kisses me and says softly in my ear, "Yeah, they were beautiful. But guess what? You're the most beautiful thing in the world to me. And, listen. I would never, ever let you do something that I thought you couldn't handle. As long as you're with me, you're safe from anything. I love you." He smiles again, knowing the effect it has on me. I hug him. He holds me there and when I stop crying, he takes my hand and half-drags me back into the water because I'm reluctant to go in.
"I don't wanna go!" I shout, laughing, still being dragged.
"You're gong in!" he says, laughing also.
When he finally gets me in, he pulls me under.
